CALL OF INTEREST EXPRESS: CONSULTANT SUPPORTING FOR TECHNICAL ASSISSTANCE IN PHARMACOVIGILANCE OPERATIONS

Background information

With financial support from the Global Fund Round 10, Hanoi University of Pharmacy implements Pharmacovigilance Component in Health System Strengthening Project. In this component, Vietnamese pharmacovigilance system is assisted to have comprehensive development. The component project aims at implementing a national pharmacovigilance network - implementing a national spontaneous reporting system as well as establishing a feedback system that would contribute towards the assurance of safety and efficacy of medicine use

General scope of the job

Technical Advisor provides support in the implementation of efficient and comprehensive pharmacovigilance system that support access to and safe use of essential medicines. Successful candidate will work in close cooperation with national pharmacovigilance center and clinic settings in Vietnam.

Venue/Timeline: Working at the National DI&ADR center’s office during the period of the last 6 months in 2012.

Responsibilities and tasks

1.       ADR related activities

·         Provide technical assistance in guidelines to develop ADR monitoring activities (including data collection, record, exploiting data, feedback mechanism …)

·         Provide training on data analysis and writing technical reports

·         Participate in the development of communication materials, presentations, articles, abstracts and posters

2.       Drug information activities

·         Develop technical documents and tools for the drug information network: medicines information request form, SOP of medicine information answering services

·         Support in provide unbiased medicine information to health care workers and regulatory authorities

·         Review drug information documents when required

·         Provide training on medicine information searching strategy, evidence-based medical information to make decision and information assessment

3.       Research activities

·         Support the implementation of assessment and/or survey activities

 

Requirements

  1. Minimum Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, pharmaceutical, medical, or allied health sciences field
  2. Postgraduate degree in clinical pharmacology, pharmacovigilance, epidemiology
  3. Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in developing and implementing pharmacovigilance systems strengthening interventions obtained from working with national pharmacovigilance centers, national regulatory authority, or from the pharmaceutical industry;
  4. Knowledge of international regulatory and pharmacovigilance guidelines
  5. Strong competencies in technical writing and good oral communication required with ability to develop technical briefs and conduct technical presentations;

The monthly remuneration: around 8000 USD/month for resident consultant or 10000 USD for non-resident consultan; Other supporting fee (including transportation support, perdiem, insurance) maximum 2000 USD/month
